WHAT IS CEREC ?
CEREC(CEramic REConstruction) is a mobile CAD/CAM computer which is used at the patient's chair. A prepared tooth is photographed with a special 3D camera, thus allowing further digital processing on the computer. In this way, a virtual construction of the suitable dental prosthesis can be carried out before the patient's eyes within a few minutes.
Finally, the construction of the denture is milled out of a ceramic blank by machine in less than 15 minutes. So you get your high-quality ceramic denture in one session!

New caries development in classic fillings
In a classic filling, a kneadable or liquid material is placed in the tooth after the caries has been removed. This is supposed to harden there, which creates stresses in the material that reduce durability. Often, therefore, after removing the material residues of old fillings, a newly developing caries is already visible. The durability of a conventional filling is estimated at about 3 years. After that, the risk of caries formation increases rapidly.
Ceramic lasts longer and prevents the formation of new caries
A ceramic filling lasts over 15 years and has a greatly reduced risk of caries with regular dental check-ups. The pictures below show a broken ceramic without caries - after 13 years! PROCEDURE OF A TREATMENT WITH CEREC
Step 1 - Digital impression
3-dimensional capture of the tooth. The exposure with the 3-D camera takes only fractions of a second. The dentist does not need to make impressions or temporary crowns. Within seconds, a 3-dimensional image of the tooth is available for processing on the computer.
Step 2 - Virtual design of the denture
Using the image that now appears on the computer monitor, the dentist now designs the filling or crown on the computer by drawing in the boundaries of the restoration.
Step 3 - Manufacturing
The finished data is then sent to a special grinding machine, where it grinds out the designed restoration in just 10-15 minutes, with a precision that rivals that of a conventionally manufactured crown.
Step 4 - Insertion of the finished denture
The finished ceramic crown or ceramic inlay is inserted using a special bonding technique. In less than an hour, the tooth is restored with an impressively beautiful restoration - hardly distinguishable from the natural tooth.
